The production covers Hamilton’s career as an American Founding Father and his participation in the American Revolution and the political and economic history of the early United States. And finally Hamilton's untimely demise to Vice President Aaron Burr in a duel.
Hamilton began in 2015, the production went on to earn 8 Drama Desk Awards, 11 Tony Awards from 18 nominations, and the Pulitzer Prize in 2016.
Miranda and the cast of Hamilton aim to tell the history of "America then, as told by America now." To do so, the production casts ethnic minority actors as the American Founding Fathers and other high profile roles.
